The Glorious 16th!

Postby Paul h on Sun Jul 05, 2009 7:51 pm

On June 16th I had a pleasure session on Bethany's peg 27 (Yes, I know, Norman told me it was a flyer). I had fished it on our club match on the Sunday and struggled to 34lb of mainly silvers.

So, armed with Maggots, Casters and a few micros I attacked the peg from the beginning by loosefeeding both casters and maggots and was soon into Tench on the deck down the track at 11 metres. I had a couple of small Carp too and then a few Skimmers.

Norman told me that it could be 4 hours before I catch the Chub up in the water, and he was absolutely spot on, but when they arrived, it was indeed one a bung.

I ended the day after about 7 hours fishing with 130 net fish, only 15 Carp, biggest fish a 2.5lb F1 (a real beauty), Chub to 1.5lb, Tench to 2lb, Golden Tench to 1.5lb, Skimmers to 1.5lb, and several Roach, Hybrids and Gudgeon.

An estimated 130lb but it could have been a good 30lb more than that in all, it's hard to estimate the weights but I am able to count my fish.

The Carp were busy doing adult things so I capitalised on the Silver fish that I treasure so much.

What a venue! Pure class!

Thanks Norman.
